Getting Heat Where It Actually Needs to Go in Tight Bending Furnaces
If you’ve ever worked with fiberglass annealing, you know the struggle. You need that perfect thermal soak to get rid of internal stress, but the furnace you’re using is a nightmare. It’s cramped. There’s no room to breathe. Most off-the-shelf heating elements just don’t fit. You try to jam in a standard straight tube, and suddenly you’ve got cold spots all over your workpiece—or worse, the heater is literally blocking the material path. It’s frustrating. Making it fit (without the bulk) That’s why we don’t do “one size fits all.” We build infrared lamps to your exact length and shape. Think about it: if we bend a heater into a U-shape or a custom arc, we can practically wrap the heat source around your fiberglass profile. You get way more radiation surface area, but your furnace footprint stays exactly the same. Plus, when the dimensions are spot-on, you can ditch those clunky reflectors that usually eat up all your precious workspace. The magic of Shortwave IR We usually lean on shortwave infrared for these custom builds. The reason? It hits the fiberglass surface fast. Instead of wasting time heating up the air inside the chamber, the heat goes straight into the material. We can also tweak the wattage per centimeter. This means your glass fibers hit that annealing point perfectly, without turning your furnace walls into a toaster. A few things to keep in mind Now, there is a trade-off. When you go custom, you can’t just grab a generic part from a catalog if something breaks. You’ll want to double-check your wiring looms and connectors. They need to be positioned just right to handle the bend of the lamp. If the tension is too high, you risk a stress fracture in the quartz envelope, and nobody wants that. Also, keep an eye on your power supply. These high-density lamps pull a lot of juice. If you’re pushing max wattage in a tiny space, make sure your cooling fans can keep up. Otherwise, those electrical terminals are going to fry. At the end of the day, we’re all about the physical fit. You get a part that drops right into your specific curve, and your workpiece finally gets the uniform heat it deserves.
