Getting the Glow Right: How We Handle Bathroom Infrared Heaters
When you’re designing a heater for a bathroom, you’re walking a tightrope. You want that instant, cozy heat, but you can’t have it coming with a blinding light. Think about a baby. Their eyes are incredibly sensitive. The last thing a parent wants is a harsh, industrial glare hitting their child’s retina during bath time. It’s just not a vibe. The trick to the warmth Most standard lamps blast out a bright, harsh white light. To fix this, we tweak the spectrum. Instead of that blinding flash, we use special coatings and filaments that push the energy into longer waves. Here’s the thing: these waves ignore the “brightness” part and go straight for the skin and body. You get all the warmth, but none of the “I can’t see” glare. Building it to last We wrap the lamp in quartz. Why? Because these heaters turn on and off fast, and quartz can handle that sudden temperature jump without cracking. We also use a curved reflector to push the heat down toward the floor. This keeps your ceiling from getting baked and spreads the light out softly. No weird “hot spots” of light—just a gentle, steady warmth. A few tips on installation Placement is everything. If you hang the unit too low, it’s too intense for a kid’s skin. Too high, and you won’t even feel it. We usually suggest keeping a gap of at least 2.2 meters. One more thing to keep in mind: because we filter out that harsh visible light, these don’t heat up quite as instantly as those raw industrial tubes you see in factories. It takes a tiny bit longer to ramp up, so just factor that into your timing to make sure the room is toasty before the towels come off.
