Let’s be honest: non-standard glass bending furnaces are usually a nightmare to work in. They’re cramped. Everything feels like it’s fighting for space. When you’re dealing with weird glass shapes or a chassis that feels two sizes too small, “off-the-shelf” infrared lamps just don’t cut it. They either don’t fit, or they leave you with awkward gaps. That’s where we come in. We don’t do “standard.” We build lamps to the exact length and shape your specific heating zone actually needs.
Dealing with the squeeze
Standard lamps usually force you into a corner. You either settle for uneven heat or you waste precious inches of space. We make quartz lamps down to the millimeter. This means you can pack more heating power into a tiny footprint without worrying about the tubes snapping or causing a short. Plus, when the lamp actually fits the space, you can aim the heat right at the bending line. No more wasting energy heating up the furnace walls.
The balancing act
Here’s the tricky part: when you change the shape of a lamp, you change the wattage per centimeter. If you go for a shorter tube with high wattage, you get intense, concentrated heat. It works great, but it puts a lot of stress on the quartz. If you push it too hard, the filament burns out way too fast. We spend our time balancing the voltage and wattage so you hit your annealing temperature without killing the lamp. Just a heads-up: if you’re going for extreme heat density in a small spot, double-check that your power supply can handle the current draw.
Making it actually fit
Nobody wants to spend a weekend rebuilding their furnace frame just to fit a new lamp. We handle the tedious stuff—lead wire lengths, specific connectors, the works. We build them to plug right into your existing wiring. We focus on the physics—getting the right wavelength of heat onto the glass—so you can just drop the lamps in and get back to work.
