Why Wait for Your Towel to Get Warm?
Most towel rails are honestly a bit slow. They rely on heating up water in pipes or trying to warm the air around them. It takes forever. We do things differently. We use shortwave infrared (IR) tech that skips the air entirely and hits the target directly. It’s the difference between waiting for a room to warm up and feeling that instant glow the second you flip the switch. Perfect for those freezing changing rooms where you just want to get dry and get out.
How the heat actually works
Think about a standard heater. It warms the air, the air rises to the ceiling, and you’re still standing there shivering with cold feet. Our IR elements don’t bother with the air. They send out waves that make the molecules in your towel—or your skin—vibrate. That vibration creates heat instantly. You don’t have to wait. You just feel it.
The nitty-gritty on power
To get that “luxury hotel” kind of warmth, we use elements with a high wattage-to-length ratio. Basically, we pack a lot of power into a small space so the filament hits its peak temperature almost immediately. We wrap everything in quartz glass to protect the tungsten filament while letting the heat pour through. A quick heads-up on the electrics: These things put out a lot of heat, which means they pull a decent amount of power. If you’re installing these in a big commercial locker room, double-check your circuit capacity first. You don’t want to be the person who trips the breakers for the whole building.
A few trade-offs
We use special coatings on the quartz to make sure the heat feels comfortable on your skin and dries fabric efficiently. But here’s the thing: because these lamps are so intense, they get very hot to the touch. You can’t just mount them flush against a wooden wall or anything that might scorch. We leave a specific air gap to keep everything safe.
Making the switch
If you’re an engineer or a contractor, you’ll love this: these are designed to be easy drop-in replacements for those old, clunky rails. Since it’s all electrical, you can ditch the plumbing and the boiler connections entirely. No leaks, no pipes to sweat. Just run the power, mount the bracket, and you’re done. It’s a much cleaner way to get a high-density heat source into a room.
